On October 26, we welcome Jeff Mangahas, Winemaker at Williams Selyem, to l’abeille for an evening celebrating Pinot Noir, terroir, craftsmanship, and the enduring legacy of one of California’s most iconic wineries.
Founded in 1978 by Burt Williams and Ed Selyem, Williams Selyem began in a Sonoma County garage and went on to help elevate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir to international prominence. The winery became known for its vineyard-designate wines and an uncompromising belief that exceptional wine begins with exceptional vineyards.
For this special dinner, l’abeille Executive Chef Mitsunobu Nagae will create a tasting menu paired with a selection of Williams Selyem wines selected by Jeff Mangahas and KUMA Hospitality Group Beverage Director Steve Kim. The menu will be designed specifically around the wines, with each course developed to complement the character and structure of the individual selections.
Now under the stewardship of the Faiveley family, Williams Selyem continues to honor its founding philosophy while carrying its legacy into a new chapter.
Jeff Mangahas will personally guide guests through the evening’s wine selections as Chef Mitsu presents dishes created to complement each pour.

Jeff Mangahas
Since 2011, Jeff Mangahas has helmed the winemaking at Russian River Valley Pinot Noir icon Williams Selyem, stewarding Burt Williams and Ed Selyem’s founding ethos: to make the best wines from the best grapes from the best growers.
Originally a medical research scientist in Seattle, Winemaker Jeff Mangahas discovered his passion for wine in Washington’s vineyards and tasting rooms, leading him to earn a Master’s of Enology at the University of California, Davis. Explorations of Burgundy and Bordeaux, as well as a harvest stint at Artesa, furthered his education. Jeff honed his expertise in cool-climate Pinot Noir at Dutton-Goldfield and Hartford Family Winery before joining Williams Selyem. Since then, Jeff has honored Burt Williams’s legacy while crafting more than 50 single-vineyard wines and appellation blends each year.
